I purchased a breville bes860 professional series coffee machine some time ago 2 years.
A variation of this test is to tape up the small hole in the black pressure disc and run the test.
Recently regardless of coffee grind sizing the pressure has stayed in the pre infusion level of the gauge and the coffee tastes like water so not the gauge itself.
I tried to clean the machine with a tablet just to check the gauge and almost no water came out and the gauge went all the way to the top of the range.

No hot water or steam.
Your machine will not dispense steam or hot water until there is sufficient pressure in the hot water boiler.

No machine can produce a crema with burnt coffee beans or a grind that is too coarse or too fine so make sure you re using good beans and an espresso grind when you test your machine.
If the water gets too hot or not hot enough no crema will be produced.
There are so many pipes carrying steam and water round a machine to identify where the problem lies it will be necessary to remove the top from the machine.

If your gauge is not moving at all there is a very high likelihood that the capillary tube or pressure gauge is blocked with limescale.
